Dr Ankur Gangal brings to the table a potent mix of corporate, academic and research experience. With 8 years of corporate experience in organizations like Saud Bahwan Group - Muscat, ICICI Prudential, Citi Group and ABN AMRO Bank, he has been in academics and training for 16 years and in active research for 9 years. He has also been a mentor and guide to 5 PhD scholars at Chandigarh University and 2 PhD scholars at Parul University. He is a PhD in Marketing focusing on ‘factor affecting Consumer Behaviour towards self-service technologies in the banking sector’ from Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar. He has cleared the UGC NET exam thrice. He has been in University education engaging graduate and post-graduate students and has been at the forefront of developing innovative courses in the realm of ‘Project-Based Learning’ pedagogy. For the same he has also visited Olin College of Engineering, Needham, Boston, and participated in an international Collaboratory to develop the knowhow of designing such courses. He has delivered a variety of corporate training programmes to elite organizations like Hindustan Petroleum and Life Insurance Corporation of India. He has multiple research publications through conference participations and in peer-reviewed journals of international repute. He has also won various awards during his corporate stint, and during his own college and school days in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
His major areas of interest are sales, marketing, services, and service quality. His focus in research has been primarily service quality and marketing of services in the banking and retail sector.
When he is not working, he is generally watching movies, listening music or training for marathons. An ardent athlete, he has participated in numerous short marathons (5 km and 10 km), 16 half-marathons (21 km) and 1 full marathon (42 km).
He is a true believer in the idea that the basic goal of education should be to help participants learn how to learn on their own. If this virtue can be imbibed in any student, it is a victory for the education system. It is with this motto that he teaches. Secondly, he likes to keep his engagements calm, peaceful, and happy experiences. Learning cannot take place under pressure. The teaching-learning process should create a happy human being and a good citizen for the society.
