B.COM. (HONS.)

The emphasis of the course is to impart to the students specialized skill sets in the areas of finance, accounting and taxation with a view to careers in financial services. While there is enough diversity in the knowledge base for the B. Com graduates to excel in any field of enterprise of their choice,  the primary focus is for them to function as top notch executives in the financial services industry in different fields of operations.

One of the key factors that we develop amongst students is adaptability and hence, flexibility towards advanced training. Knowledge is imparted by using an innovative approach towards lectures, giving on the job experience through internship and complement class room teaching by organizing guest lectures and practical demonstrations relevant to gaining an elevated understanding of the subject in relation to its practical environment

This provides a learning ambience that challenges the student’s mind through competitive education  emphasizing on inculcating values, and transforming them into socially responsible managers and business leaders.

This is a 4-year, full time Bachelor of Commerce, Honours (B.Com (Hons.) program over 6 semesters; which is 36 subjects in all.

Program Objectives

• To provide professional education for teaching commerce and management disciplines to undergraduate students for advancement of learning and thereby setting up a benchmark for the industry.
• To nurture budding talent and build a learning environment and encourage them to develop the leadership quality.
• To train the students to carry out research in the field of management and provide them with state-of-the-art infrastructure and necessary resources for fostering research.
• To have a holistic view towards education, thereby focusing on soft skills and co-curricular needs, in order to have a balanced growth of intellect.
• To provide an environment that challenges the students’ mind through competitive education that emphasizes on inculcating values, thus transforming them into socially responsible managers and business leaders.
• To impart knowledge by using innovative approach towards lectures, giving on-the-job experience through internship and complement classroom teaching by organising industrial visits and field trips.
• To ensure that the students meet the needs of entering into the middle-level management for being placed as executives in various departments of the company such as finance, operations, marketing, human resource.

The Course facilitates students to choose a Certification Programme from ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), UK. ACCA is a global body for professional accountants which is recognised in over 180 countries worldwide with 7500 approved employers. Besides the international tag this certification comes at an extremely low price and also exemptions are granted on few papers. Students can choose to attain an Advanced Diploma during the course of 3 years of their undergraduate course.
